PRESENTER
Duties
- Presents a programme with content agreed by the Programming group
- Operates all the technical equipment (microphones, CD players, mixer, Jazler touch screen, studio phone, computer), unless otherwise agreed with the Station Manager
- Reads the weather forecast
- Brings in the news on the hour
- Ensures all advertisements, sponsorship announcements, community spotlights and other presenters’ promos are aired at the right times
- Arranges a swift, efficient changeover at start and end of shift
Personal Specification
- Thornbury FM is open to programme ideas from prospective presenters. Some of the ideas we particularly welcome this time include:-
Youth interest, Young adults 18 – 30, Drama, Gardening,
Programmes for the very young (nursery age), School 6th form debate,
Communities outside Thornbury, within the transmission area,
History of Thornbury and district (or what Thornbury and district used to be like)- At the same time we are open to other ideas, and we will consider any proposal sympathetically.
- We would like to focus material on any group not represented in our current schedule, and are interested in presenters who are in contact with such groups
- Personal characteristics (desirable):-
- Punctual
- Calm nature, not easily flustered
- Friendly and easy-going
- Attention to detail
- Good co-ordination
- Good timing
- Likes technology
- Knowledgeable about the subject covered in the programme
Other Matters
All Volunteers
- Must join Thornbury FM - annual subscription rates apply
- Must be able to get to studio or meeting place in Thornbury on time
Volunteer Presenter
- Technical training will be provided (not accredited)
- In exceptional cases the Station Manager may agree for the provision of technical assistance
- Must receive child-safe training and be CRB checked
- Must be able to give a minimum of 4 hours during each week of broadcast
- Must be prepared to assist with reception or other duties
- Bad language is not allowed
