SPECIALIST MUSIC DJ
Duties
- Presents a programme with a specific musical genre
- Operates all the technical equipment (microphones, CD players, mixer, Jazler touch screen, studio phone, computer)
- Reads the weather forecast
- Brings in the news on the hour
- Ensures all advertisements, sponsorship announcements, community spotlights and other presenters’ promos are aired at the right times
- Abides by TFM’s Code of Practice regarding inappropriate language and comments
- Promotes our Vision ands Values
- Arranges a swift, efficient changeover at start and end of shift
Personal Specification
- For its second broadcast, Thornbury FM is particularly interested in DJs that specialise in the following music styles:-
R&B, Jazz
- At the same time we are open to other ideas. Many similar stations have the following specialist music:-
Rock & Roll, Folk, Classical, Gospel, Disco
- However we will consider any proposal sympathetically, including music types not mentioned above.

- Punctual
- Calm nature, not easily flustered
- Friendly and easy-going

- Good co-ordination

- Likes technology
- Knowledgeable about music speciality
Other Matters
All Volunteers
- Must join Thornbury FM - annual subscription rates apply
- Must be able to get to studio or meeting place in Thornbury on time
Volunteer Specialist Music DJ
- Technical training will be provided (not accredited)
- Must receive child-safe training and be CRB checked
- Must be able to give a minimum of 2 hours during each week of broadcast
- Must be prepared to assist with reception or other duties
- Bad language is not allowed, and only “clean” recorded music can be used that is suitable for public broadcast
