TECHNICAL OPERATOR

Duties

• Operates effectively most or all studio equipment on behalf of an unskilled presenter:-
  • Jazler – touch screen technology for jingles and adverts
  • Double CD player
  • Microphones - presenter and guest
  • IRN news on the hour
  • Studio phone
  • Mixer  - 8 channels: 2 CDs, 2 mikes, IRN, Jazler, 2 auxiliaries
  • Separate PC (e-mails, weather reports, other internet use)
• Brings in the news on the hour
• Ensures all advertisements, sponsorship announcements, community spotlights and other presenters’ promos are aired at the right times
• Arranges a swift, efficient changeover at start and end of shift

Other Matters

All Volunteers

• Must join Thornbury FM - annual subscription rates apply
• Must be able to get to studio or meeting place in Thornbury on time

Volunteer Technical Operator

• Training will be provided (not accredited)
• Must receive child-safe training and be CRB checked
• Must be able to give a minimum of 4 hours during each week of broadcast
