C Rock Sunday (Sunday's 6.00 pm)

In the 80’s a young teenage boy sat under the cool shade of a baobab tree resting from the hot sun and dusty air, listening to the silence of the bush broken by the occasional cry of a hoopoe or go-away bird, or a rumble from his stomach. As he caught his breath his thoughts turned to think about how he was growing up in Africa and starving. Yes, another sad story of a poor African boy growing up deprived of the basic essentials in life. He was starved alright, starved like so many others…..starved of good music. His hunger was for something out of the ordinary, something that didn’t fit into the category of “everybody’s listening to it”. Something that didn’t pollute his mind with violence, sex, drugs, and bad language. But it didn’t seem to exist. Then, one day, that boy visited a friend who lived a long way away, across many rivers and plains through dry lands and lion territory. A friend who had travelled across a big sea in a huge metal bird. A friend who had returned bearing many strange and wonderful items. Amongst this collection of treasures the boy found a new type of music. Rock music like he had never heard before. Music that shook his body and rocked his soul! That poor starving African boy was me, and this is some of the music I’ve discovered along the way. Tune in on Sunday’s from 6pm to 8pm for the C Rock Sunday show, hosted by me (whoa surprise!), bringing you some of the latest in Christian Rock music.
