Lyn Bedford
Hello! My name is Lyn Bedford and I have lived in Thornbury for over 30 years in total and I'm delighted that my four children: Katy, Robin, Andrew and Jamie have all settled here, now that they are grown up. I originally trained as a Primary School teacher, but later moved into secondary education, specialising in English and Drama, so there will probably be some of my ex-pupils out there!
I first appeared on the stage at the age of 3, as a dancing fairy and have been 'hooked' by all things theatrical ever since. I love ballet and all forms of dance, plays [both serious and comic], and light opera, but my special interest is musicals. I also enjoy films, but my busy life as Principal of the Northavon School of Drama [which performs as the Northavon Youth Theatre Company and currently has 60 students from 11 to 18 years] leaves little time for other pursuits!
As before, my programme will be a mixture of music from stage and screen musicals, interspersed with personal reminiscences of my varied theatrical [amateur] experiences and guests from local performance groups, with memories and updates on plays, musicals, pantomimes and concerts to be staged in Thornbury in the coming months, so why not contact me with details of your arts event!
My other main interest is in A C T [Arts and Community in Thornbury] and its exciting project to build an arts and performance venue in Thornbury. A number of people have been very busy 'behind the scenes' and my programme will also give listeners all the latest information on this development.
I will be on air every Wednesday throughout Novemberfrom 12 noon until 2.00 pm, so I do hope you will join me, either to wallow in a bit of nostalgia, or just to pass a pleasant couple of hours in the magical world of musicals.
