Why does Thornbury FM broadcast for only a few weeks a year?
The regulations governing the licencing of Radio Stations mean that we are currently only eligible to apply for a 'Restricted Service Licence' (RSL) from Ofcom, the regulatory authority for all television and radio broadcasting. This Licence entitles us to broadcast for up to 28 consecutive days. We are able to apply for up to two of these Licences a year as long as there is a four month gap between the two broadcast periods.
